House Water Refill

If you are reading this, chances are you may have run out of water. You will know you ran out of water if there is excessive air in the lines. There may be small amounts of air from time to time, and that is normal. If you have run out the sinks and showers will have a lot of air when turned on, and the toilets will also make very loud noises when filling. If you have a toilet making excessive noise, turn off the valve on the water supply that comes from the wall and goes to the toilet. When the house tank refills, be sure to turn it back on. Below are a couple of steps to follow to allow the spring to refill the tanks.

What to do if water tanks are empty

  • When the tank is empty, it will cause the water pump to run excessively, and it could damage the pump. First, the pump will need to be unplugged. This will allow the reservoir tank to fill up. The water pump is located in the mechanical room, which is located behind the short door in the lower level. There are two mechanical rooms; the first is storage, and the main mechanicals are located behind the second door. If the water tank is empty, the water pump will be running. It is a blue pump that is located on top of the smaller of the blue water tanks. It plugs into an outlet that has 220 written on it. Remove the plug from the outlet.
  • When the pump is off it will allow the reservoir tank to fill back up so there is water available to pump back into the blue tanks. The reservoir tank may take a couple of hours to fill. Please do not plug the pump in until the reservoir is full. You will know the reservoir tank is filled when there is water flowing back into the spring.
  • When water is flowing back into the spring, return to the mechanical room and return the plug to the outlet that has 220 written on it. Once plugged in, the pump will turn on and fill the tanks in the house. It will run for several minutes and turn off on its own.
  • If there is air in the lines, you will still notice excessive air when you start to use the water again. The air will run out of the lines when faucets, showers, and toilets are used, and the water will return to normal.
